IND vs UAE Highlights, Asia Cup T20I: India make mockery of UAE to start title-defence with thumping win

IND vs UAE Score, Asia Cup 2025 :

– India 60/1 in 4.3 overs (A Sharma 30, S Gill 20*; J Siddique 1/16) hammer UAE (57 all out) by nine wickets.

IND vs UAE Highlights, Asia Cup 2nd T20I, India vs United Arab Emirates: Shubman Gill sealed the win in style with a crisp back-foot on-drive as India chased down the target in just 4.3 overs. It was a complete performance — the bowlers laid the platform with a commanding display before the batters made light work of the chase. India cruised to 60/1 (Abhishek Sharma 30, Shubman Gill 20*; J Siddique 1/16), thrashing UAE (57 all out) by nine wickets.

Earlier, India made short work of the UAE – as expected – bundling them out for a sorry 57 in the 2nd match of the 2025 Asia Cup. India got themselves some good warm-up with their bowlers getting among the wickets, with Kuldeep Yadav leading the charge with 4/7. India’s domination over the UAE reached a stage where even the umpires sped through the dismissals as the reigning champions were all over the hosts like a rash. Kuldeep breathed fire and clipped the UAE wings, reducing them to 5/50 inside 10 overs. He picked three wickets in an over to bring the hosts down to their knees and widen the gulf between the two teams. India are the T20 World Champions for a reason, and that’s exactly the kind of skills they are displaying against the UAE, who lost half their side, with Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep improving their stats.

Bumrah took less than two overs to silence the UAE and their attacking start against India at the Dubai International Stadium. The Indian pacer nailed the perfect yorker to send back Indian-origin Alishan Sharafu for 22. Muhammad Waseem copped a blow to his toe after Hardik Pandya’s throw struck him accidentally. After getting hit for a few lusty strokes, India restored order, with Varun Chakaravarthy dismissing Muhammad Zohaib for 2. From there, Kuldeep took over and reduced the game to a no-contest.

India handed spots to Sanju Samson and Kuldeep in the playing XI, while Arshdeep Singh and Jitesh Sharma missed out. Suryakumar Yadav leads the side with Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill at the top, backed by a strong middle order and a balanced bowling attack featuring Bumrah and Chakaravarthy.

India’s Asia Cup 2025 campaign begins after a build-up that has seen plenty of debate and plenty of contention. Selection calls, leadership decisions, whether this tournament should be taking place at all: this Asia Cup has already seen plenty of discussion and controversy, weeks before it even begun. After Afghanistan thumped Hong Kong to get the tournament started yesterday, the focus shifts to the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, but all the eyes in Dubai will be on the men in blue, as favourites India begin their campaign.

The record eight-time Asia Cup champions have become the team to beat in white ball cricket, particularly in tournament play. They won the 50-over version of this tournament the last time it was played in 2023, went on to have a memorable but heartbreaking ODI World Cup campaign, but finally landed silverware with the T20I World Cup win in 2024 and followed it up with the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. In the limited-overs game, India has developed into a consistent behemoth, regularly playing good cricket and becoming incredibly tough to beat.

Even under the fresh captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, fans will be hoping this trend continues to follow. This is a relatively young team compared to the won that won the previous Asia Cup or even found success in North America and the Caribbean just a year ago, with fresh faces and the stars of tomorrow trying to make a mark. But at the same time, there is more than enough experience, players who have seen what the best in the world has to offer thanks to the IPL, and proper Indian internationals in their own right over the last 12 months. SKY leads the line, but the talent that will be on show up and down the lineup is immense.

India’s biggest weapon will be Bumrah, who returns after having missed the ICC Champions Trophy. Although his workload is under management, the next big overseas tour in Test cricket being a while away means Gautam Gambhir and his captains can turn to him to be their lead bowler when they are gunning for silverware. Bumrah is a difference-maker, a T20 bowler who ensures he will concede very little despite bowling the difficult overs in a match, and be a constant risk to dismiss the opposition’s best batters as well. He will be given able support by Arshdeep Singh, or potentially Harshit Rana, with Hardik Pandya presenting a third seam bowling option: it’s a combination which worked excellently to help India to the T20 World Cup, a tried and tested formula.
